Photosynthesis is the process by which plant convert light energy, water (H2O) and carbon dioxide (CO2) into carbohydrates and oxygen.
All green plant absorbs carbon dioxide through holes in their leaves, and water through their roots. They then use light energy (sun or artificial lighting) and the green pigment called chlorophyll as a catalyst. This enables them to produce carbohydrates which are the main building block that they need to grow, survive and produce. During the process of photosynthesis oxygen is produce, which is needed by almost all living things to stay alive.
